Gentle, organic remedies to nourish your body and soul

As part of one of my resolutions to be a little more homemade this year, I’ve been exploring ways to use simpler, more natural ingredients to care for both our home and our bodies. I’ve always struggled with my skin, but since stepping away from store-bought cleansers, I’ve noticed a real difference. Many skincare products are filled with harsh ingredients, and it turns out my skin responds best when things are kept minimal and natural.
I’m especially glad to be leaning into this now, as my daughters are starting to take an interest in skincare, mostly for the fun of it. I love the idea of guiding them toward gentle, natural ingredients now and hopefully planting those seeds for the future as well.
This winter has been incredibly cold and somehow never-ending, and with the constant heat running, our homes feel dry and unforgiving. It’s no wonder skin tends to struggle this time of year.
The best part of this approach is how versatile many of these ingredients are. Castor oil, for example, can be used on the face, through the hair, and even as a simple detox when applied to the stomach. These are small, uncomplicated swaps, nothing fancy, just thoughtful, nourishing ways to care for ourselves during the driest months of the year.

01 Honey Face Cleanser Raw honey is naturally antibacterial and deeply moisturizing, making it perfect for gently cleansing the skin. Massage a small amount onto damp skin, then rinse with warm water. | 02 Olive Oil Cleanser Olive oil dissolves makeup and impurities while nourishing dry or sensitive skin. Massage onto dry skin, then remove with a warm, damp cloth. | 03 Apple Cider Vinegar Toner Apple cider vinegar helps balance skin’s pH and can reduce congestion and breakouts. Dilute with water (1 part ACV to 3–4 parts water) and apply with a cotton pad after cleansing. |
04 Castor Oil & Heating Pad Castor oil has long been used to support lymphatic flow and gentle detoxing. Massage onto the abdomen, cover with a cloth, and rest with a heating pad for 20–30 minutes. | 05 Castor Oil Scalp Massage Scalp massage increases circulation and can support hair growth and thickness. Massage oil into the scalp for several minutes, leave on for at least 30 minutes (or overnight), then wash out. | 06 Castor Oil for Face Castor oil deeply nourishes the skin and supports hair growth for brows and lashes. Apply a thin layer to clean skin and gently brush onto brows and lashes before bed. |
