Love Actually at Home

Valentine’s Day is often thought of as a celebration for couples, but it can be just as meaningful for the whole family or even as a quiet night for yourself. This year, we chose to celebrate at home by making heart-shaped pizzas, baking a homemade cake, and sharing what we love about one another.
The kids wanted to make valentines for each other, so we used our nightly quiet time the evening before to create them together. After dinner, we opened the valentines and read them aloud one by one. It was such a joy to watch their faces light up as they read their cards and to see how proud they were to give something made by hand to the people they love.

For decorations, we kept things simple with paper chains, and the girls wore pink and red. It was a great reminder that the simplest nights can become the most memorable when you intentionally name them as special, moments meant to be shared with the ones you love.
Heart Paper Chain
These heart paper chains are super easy to make. Start by taking a strip of paper and stapling the ends together to form a heart shape. For the next link, pinch the ends of a new strip of paper around the bottom of the previous heart and staple it in place. Continue adding strips in the same way until your chain is as long as you like!
You could end the night with a cozy family movie, tucked in together, letting the love linger just a little longer.
