We talk often about gratitude, what it means to be truly thankful. This month, I rolled out a length of craft paper and used it as our table runner. Throughout the week, the kids have been adding to it — little notes and drawings of what they’re grateful for. It’s become such a fun and meaningful family ritual. If your kids are too young to write, they can draw instead. During dinner, we read through what we’ve written, and hearing each other’s words often sparks new reminders of what we have to be thankful for.

Beyond the Table

Gratitude doesn’t have to stay at the table. Try hanging a roll of paper on the wall or keeping a running list nearby, adding to it each time something sparks extra thanks. Let it live on the walls, the fridge, or anywhere your family gathers. The more we practice noticing the good in our everyday lives, the more it seems to show up.

Try This:

Keep a Gratitude Roll going all season long. Each week, choose a new theme — people, places, or moments that made us laugh. At the end of the month, unroll it together and read through each note.
